Day 10: Hootalinqua and Big Salmon 75mi

Today marked the 10th day of Peter and Imre’s adventure in the Yukon Territories. They are glad to be back on moving water after spending most of yesterday on Lake Laberge. One continuing difficulty is the weather; today they battled 30 mph winds. They hope the weather will change for the better soon. Despite this they were still able to travel 75 miles in 11.5 hours making great progress. They passed through the small villages of Hootalinqua and Big Salmon today.

In Hootalinqua they discovered the sternwheeler named Evelyn which was built in 1908 with accommodation for 85 1st class passengers and is still in fairly good shape.
